Daria Butakhina and Alexander Kudimov, architectural studio Ruetemple, designed a loft with an area of 103 square meters in the Moscow residential complex Studio #12. The two-level apartment occupies the last two floors.
“The project was created for a young family who is involved in fashion and design,” said the architects. — The work was very productive and easy. The clients, like all creative people, were actively involved in the project and had a clear idea of what they needed. The big plus was that we have the same idea of beauty and harmony.”
The customers saw the first floor as an open public space combining a cafe, cinema, office, and workshop. The second floor is like a private space with a workshop, bedroom, dressing room, and bathroom. The architects got the apartment at the stage of an empty concrete box without walls, so they were able to design everything necessary. Five-meter ceilings, panoramic glazing, and views from the windows onto the beautiful roofs of modern low-rise buildings also turned out to be the advantages of this property.
The center of the composition on the ground floor was a massive black volume, combining a kitchen, pantry, and dressing room. Nearby there is a dining table and a sitting area with a large soft sofa, from which it is convenient to watch movies on a projector. The work area, raised onto a podium, is located on the opposite side. It is additionally separated from the general space by a tall three-meter focus, and the “ceiling” of the office is a hammock stretched over it. There is also a guest bathroom on the ground floor. A black metal staircase leads to the second – private – floor under a pitched roof. It has a smaller area, but there is enough space for a bedroom with a dressing area, a workshop, and a bathroom surrounded by greenery, which has two windows at once: one facing the street, the other onto the stairs.
“When working with the palette, we started from the source code,” say the authors of the project. — There is a lot of raw concrete in the loft – it is very active in its texture. We kept the rough brick but painted it white so it wouldn’t clash with the concrete. Added black for contrast. And wood – for warmth and comfort.”
Almost all the furniture in the project is made to order. The kitchen and kitchen island, as well as all cabinet furniture, were made by Atrima Furniture. Sofa from Ru-sky. Solid wood dining table from SpaceWood. Chairs from Bergenson Bjorn. The customers implemented the project on their own.
