Project: Holiday house made out of containers

Author: Ainė Bunikytė
Photographer: Simonas Linkevičius
Location: Lithuania
Year: 2021

The clients of the project, a couple, crazy for watersports, wished for a non-traditional, playful interior. The recreational house is not designed for permanent living, yet it has all the amenities needed to comfortably stay during a weekend or longer. In the space of three joined containers, there is a kitchen, a sofa-bed, a bathroom, a wardrobe, a TV, and a storage space for sports gear. Wooden blinds and a shadow play, blue-stained plywood, and terrazzo pattern planes combine into a vivacious whole.

Along with the interior, a terrace, decorated with corten steel flowerpots, was designed. Through the window, one can see a shore of Elektrėnai lagoon, real palm trees, chaise-longues, “Acapulco” lounge chairs, jacuzzi – all of which create a relaxing holiday atmosphere.
