Designers from Aiya Design Studio have created a laconic masculine interior that looks stylish thanks to uniform solutions and contrasting accents.

The project of a three-room apartment was developed by the Aiya Design studio for a young man who lives alone. “Our customer has a soft spot for minimalistic interior design solutions,” the designers say. “His main wishes were to hide everything unnecessary behind the facades, exclude decor and focus on monochrome. In the process of work, the interior was filled with lively and attractive details, but at the same time, we retained the main idea – restraint and integrity.
The original layout was subjected to a global rethinking. The entrance hall was separated from the public area by a transparent partition. Thanks to this solution, the darkest rooms were filled with light. At the same time, a small shelf for decor and small things goes from the wall to the glass panel and seems to be floating in the air.
The central room of the apartment, the kitchen-dining room, and the living room turned out to be of an irregular pentagonal shape. The designers hid the sharp corner with a built-in library rack.
Due to the desire of the customer to minimize and hide everything superfluous, the decor of the apartment is incredibly concise. So the designers implemented an unusual solution and hid the whole room from view. The bedroom is separated from the entire apartment by a “secret” door hidden in the wall panels of the dressing room.
The highlight of the bedroom is the NLXL wallpaper designed by Dutch designer Piet Boon. The concrete pattern looks so realistic that it is impossible to distinguish it from the real material. The wallpaper is harmoniously combined with natural wood – another key theme of the interior. The project turned out to be brutal and restrained, but at the same time retained lightness.
The study also plays the role of a guest bedroom. To ensure privacy, the transparent partition is complemented by blackout curtains. Details deserve special attention: the beautiful contrast between softwood, porous ceramics, and hard translucent glass emphasized the scale of the objects.
The finishing touches were works of art. It is noteworthy that the canvases for a strict male interior were made mainly by women. So in the bedroom, there was a work by Olga Tatarintseva, and in the office – by Ekaterina Rozhkova.
“We have created a minimalistic interior with contrasting accents, while fully maintaining the visual integrity,” the studio’s designers add. “Of the finishing materials in the interior, it is worth noting the presence of natural wood in interesting combinations with concrete, marble, and geometric design tiles.”
