1. Choose porcelain stoneware
Where it is appropriate – in the bathroom and toilet, as well as in the hallway and kitchen, it is better to choose porcelain tiles. Why? It is often recommended to lay tiles in the kitchen and hallway, as they are more resistant to moisture and dirt and are difficult to scratch. However, the cost of installation and the price per square meter are often higher than laminate. And yet, in an apartment where a family with pets will live, saving may end up costing more. Flock
The flock is quite soft to the touch, so it is difficult to imagine that it is durable and will withstand an “attack” by a pet. And the reason for the softness is that a fine artificial pile is applied to a cotton or satin base using glue. It also ensures the strength of the fabric. Flock upholstery comes in a variety of colors, so you can easily find one that suits your decor.
Jacquard
It is made from tightly woven threads, so the fabric is dense and resistant to damage. The denser the threads, the more durable the fabric. Feel free to choose this upholstery for sofas and armchairs if you have cats or dogs in your home.
Chenille
It has strength due to the fact that the composition contains a pile between the intertwined threads. Therefore, the chenille is not afraid of either the claws or teeth of playful pets.
Furniture suede on a woven basis
The last clarification is especially important. The non-woven base is less durable. Suede is pleasant to the touch, and strength is ensured by special Teflon impregnation.
5. Consider furniture layouts with pets in mind
For example, where will you hide bowls for water and food, and whether you will hide them at all? Where will you allocate space for the cat litter box? If a minimalist interior is important to you, these important little things can be built into the furniture. For example, allocate a separate cabinet (or a separate shelf behind the door ) in the bathroom or a pull-out shelf with bowls in the kitchen for food and water.
