The perfect room for a Baby: 7 useful tips and Examples

What colors to use in the newborn’s room, how to choose furniture, decor, and other important elements. Young parents will find a lot of interesting things for themselves.

1. Restrained colors with bright accents

The colors in the baby’s room play an important role and until now psychologists and designers cannot come to a unanimous decision on whether to make a room in pastel shades so as not to excite the baby, or, on the contrary, bright colors are important so that the child gets used to the variety. In fact, in infancy, children do not see beyond 30 cm. The maximum that will enter the field of view of the child is the objects surrounding his crib and the faces of his parents.

We offer a compromise – decorate the room in pastel colors with bright accents. Pillows, storage systems, posters, and stickers – they can be made with bright spots on a neutral background.

The fact that girls are pink and boys are blue has long been forgotten in modern interior design. Gender differences in projects are gradually disappearing, for children’s projects they select a variety of color accents. Although, of course, if the girl’s parents want to make a cute room in pink shades, nothing prevents them from succumbing to this desire.

2. Natural materials

Natural materials in decoration and fabrics for decor (cotton and linen) are ideal for a child’s room. Diapers are often chosen from muslin, a type of cotton fabric that is practical and pleasant to the touch.

What textiles are needed in the baby’s room

  1. The sides in the crib are not only practical but also beautiful, adding comfort.

  2. Curtains – choose linen and thin tulle.

  3. Throws and pillow covers – these are more needed by parents who want to relax next to the baby’s crib.

3. practical furniture

The variety of furniture for a baby’s room today is amazing: transforming models, a variety of chests of drawers and wardrobes, and feeding chairs.

5 essential pieces of furniture for a nursery

  1. Crib. You can choose transformers that “grow” with the child, or a regular bed up to 1-1.5 years. The transformer is 2-3 times more expensive than the regular, but it will also last longer.

  2. Baby changing table. Parents rarely buy a separate model, more often they choose an overlay on a chest of drawers or a special tab that can be placed on any surface.
  3. Dresser or wardrobe for storing clothes. As a rule, a newborn has a lot of clothes, because after birth, babies grow quickly and you have to constantly update your wardrobe. In addition, packs of diapers and wet wipes also need to be stored somewhere.
  4. Chair for feeding. Many mothers say that the need for a nursing chair can be understood after birth. A rocking chair is also a great option.
  5. Folding sofa. If the baby sleeps in a separate room, you will probably need a bed for the parent: sometimes you will have to fall asleep next to the child.

4. Accessories

Decorating a child’s room is always fun. Even the most serious adult is sure to fall into childhood for a while, choosing from the many toys, cute posters, toy houses, and more. Choosing not only beautiful, but the right decor is not an easy task, but by adhering to certain guidelines, you can manage without the help of a designer.

  • The “interior from the picture” is often created with wall decor alone. Bare walls will make a room very easy – any, not just a nursery. Thematic stickers, pictures, and posters can decorate the walls in the baby’s room.
  • Soft toys – you need to be careful with them: they easily collect dust and require periodic washing. Consider if you need them.
  • Carpet for a nursery is an important element for creating comfort in a room. Choose carpets with short pile.
  • Pendants for the crib – there are musical and ordinary ones. As a rule, the need for such a suspension is determined after birth. Often the child does not pay attention to hanging toys and they do not help to sleep better.

  • Bed canopies – look beautiful and add tenderness to the room.

5. Various storage systems

Storage systems should be taken care of in advance. Liners for shelves, boxes, baskets, decorative bags, organizers – everything will come in handy in the struggle for order. In baskets, you can put clean, but not yet ironed linen (it is convenient that it does not lie in a slide and does not spoil the interior of the room), as well as numerous toys when the child gets a little older. Decorative bags can be used for the same purpose. Hanging organizers are convenient to hang directly on the crib to quickly get a bottle, a clean diaper, or a napkin.

6. Lighting

There are no strict rules for lighting a child’s room. For a newborn, it is better to choose lamps with soft diffused light. It is worth providing a night light that can be turned on for nightly dressing and feeding.

7. Furniture layout

The correct layout of furniture should be chosen depending on the size and shape of the room. The only rule that you should still follow is not to put the crib near the window. The room will need to be periodically ventilated, and temperature changes can adversely affect the newborn.

The rest is optional. Experienced mothers say that next to the changing table it is convenient to place a chest of drawers or hang shelves where diapers, a change of clothes, a stack of diapers, and napkins are located.
