Is your windowsill occupied? 7 options for where else to place indoor plants

In the corner on a stool, on a cabinet, in the bathroom on a sink, and other ideas where you can put a flowerpot with house plants.

1. On the dresser

Plants that do not need bright sunlight can be placed further away from the window, on a chest of drawers. In some cases, this is even useful: for example, during periods of working heating or summer heat. Place the flower so that it does not accidentally fall and pets cannot access it.

2. On a stool

Large plants can be placed directly on the floor, but smaller pots will get lost in this arrangement. They are also inconvenient to water and can be accidentally touched with your foot. It is not necessary to buy a special stand for plants – just place the pot on a stool, and find a convenient place for it not in the passage.

3. On the bedside table

There is enough space on the bedside table for small and medium flowerpots. Moreover, indoor plants in the bedroom help to relax, improve the quality of air, and accordingly, sleep. Just choose varieties for this room without a pronounced aroma, so as not to have a headache or allergy. Depending on how much sunlight the flower needs, place the pot on the bedside table closer to the window or further from it.

4. On the shelf

If you are into gardening and gradually have an impressive collection at home, it makes sense to allocate a separate place for plants. For example, you can buy an inexpensive rack (or even make one yourself). Collect flowers with similar growing conditions on it and put them in a suitable place. This could be a corner next to a window, a shaded part of the room or a balcony.

5. On the sink

There are dozens of types of house plants that like high humidity and don’t need direct sunlight: for example, ferns, philodendrons, or small-leaved ivy. One or even two pots can be placed on the countertop next to the sink if space allows. This will free up the windowsill and at the same time make the bathroom more comfortable.

6. On the desk

A pot with a succulent, Kalanchoe, cactus, or other small and unpretentious plant can be placed on the desk. A living plant will improve the air quality, making it easier and more pleasant to work. Choose varieties that are not afraid of dry air if there is a computer on the desk and it is constantly working. Do not place the flowerpot on the very edge – so that you do not accidentally drop it.

7. On the wardrobe

Finally, one or more flower pots can be placed on any not-too-high cabinet or on a furniture wall (like here, in the niche for the TV). It is important that you have access to them for watering and other care activities. Low-growing plants will feel good in this position, and on the upper shelves –  hanging varieties that do not require frequent watering and bright light.
