The owners of this apartment are a young active couple with two children. Designer Marina Kuznetsova was faced with the task of distributing functional zones over an area of 93 square meters and finding the right combinations of shades and textures for a calm and harmonious interior.
“This is the most unusual experience in my practice – the customers did not rely on references and did not express preferences in shades, giving me complete creative freedom,” says Marina.
The disadvantage of the apartment was its location on the second floor – due to this there is less natural light in the space, so the designer paid special attention to developing the palette. Delicate beige, light gray and pearl tones and tactile textures helped make the rooms airier and create a warm, balanced interior. “In this project, the severity of minimalism is smoothed out by the play of halftones and delicate color accents. The beige base is effectively emphasized with black graphic details and textures, and all the color spots have moved to the children’s room,” adds the designer.
“The free layout proposed by the developer still implied some restrictions within the boundaries of the functional zones, so we only slightly adjusted the spaces according to the wishes of the customers. The apartment has a bedroom with a dressing room, a children’s room, a spacious kitchen-living room, a hall and a bathroom. The result is a clean, well-thought-out space where every item has its place due to the proper organization of storage areas.”
“The most difficult task for me was simulating a skylight in the bathroom. The structure was tinted three times with different films – since there is not much light in the apartment, all samples went through long approval stages. In general, we paid a lot of attention to detail (for example, I took part in the creation of the carpet directly in the process of printing the design), but thanks to them, the interior received its own unique character.”
