According to Alessandro Catenacci, head of Nobis Hospitality Group, the design is based on a new definition of luxury. Gert Wingårdh and his team Wingårdh Arkitekter presented a master class on timeless interiors. The hotel was conceived to be comfortable and friendly but spared from everything superfluous and artificial.

A harmonious mix allowed us to create high-quality materials – natural marble and oak, copper, and glass. But the main thing was the choice of the item – the hotel is decorated with spectacular works of author’s design. Among them are fashionable lamps Michael Anastasiades, classics of the XX century – chairs and armchairs by Hans Wegner, and crystal by the Danish designer Frederik Bagger.

Gert Wingårdh is an iconic figure in the sky of Swedish architecture. He started as a decorator, but after graduating from university, he became a practicing architect and in 1977 opened his own workshop. For the Öijared Executive Country Club project in the suburbs of Gothenburg, Wingårdh received the Chasper Salin Prize, Sweden’s premier architectural award. And today he is considered a master of large-scale shopping complexes and concert halls, the author of chic facades, and a lover of bright colors. He is called a maximalist, and his architecture is an architecture of commercial success.

The hotel has an area of 5500 square meters – 77 rooms and three suites. Muted blue and green tones in the palette of northern nature set up a calm mood. All rooms have high stucco ceilings, floor windows, and chevron parquet floors. Furniture – Danish brand Carl Hansen & Søn, carpets – Swedish brand Kasthall, bathrooms are decorated with Marble Bardiglio Nuvolato.

“DANISH CLASSICISM, OF WHICH THE HOTEL BUILDING IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE, IS MORE COMPLEX THAN SWEDISH. WE WERE DELICATE, HIGHLIGHTING EVERY DETAIL OF THE ORIGINAL ARCHITECTURE. WE HAVE ADDED HIGH-QUALITY NATURAL MATERIALS (VARIOUS VARIETIES OF MARBLE, STONE, WOOD AND GLASS) TOGETHER WITH A SUBTLE COLOR SCHEME, CHOOSING A BEAUTIFUL GREEN SHADE AS AN ACCENT.”

Previously, the building built in 1903 was occupied by the Royal Danish Conservatory. The task of Wingårdh Arkitekter was to preserve and emphasize the original architectural details: for example, the impressive main staircase was restored.

Gert Wingårdh’s office also designed the hotel’s Niels restaurant. His design is an homage to the work of Le Corbusier. The resemblance to the Dominican monastery Sainte Marie de La Tourette is hinted at by a glass facade with rhythmic glass.
