The aesthetics of the apartment does not have a clear stylistic focus and is a collective, eclectic image, consisting of elements of the most popular and sought-after styles.
The project is focused on a large family, consisting of parents, the eldest daughter, and two younger sons of preschool age. It is assumed that the family has many relatives and friends who often come to visit. Despite the large area, the apartment has an initially complex layout. It was decided to divide the largest living room with a semicircular wall into the following rooms: the nursery, the parent’s bedroom with an adjacent dressing room, and the living room, which will become a walk-through.
Since these rooms, one of which is in the back of the apartment, have only three windows, it was decided to isolate the living area through the glazed doors of the nursery and the parent’s bedroom using chrome glass. The kitchen will also undergo major changes, with an open opening 900 mm wide in the load-bearing wall to combine the kitchen with the dining room.
Given the frequent receptions of guests, it was necessary to find a place for a large table. To do this, the room next to the kitchen was taken completely under the dining room, and an island was placed in the kitchen for quick snacks. It will be inconvenient to use one bathroom for five people, so there are two full-fledged rooms with a bath and a shower. The hall will be separated from the hallway by small walls: a bench and hangers for outerwear will be placed closer to the front door, and a capacious storage system 60 cm deep will be organized along the wall in the far part.
In the interior design of the public area, artificially aged wood with the effect of salinity in seawater, forged elements, and painted wood with a visible structure are actively used – all this is typical of the Mediterranean style and the American cottage style. Light pastel colors combined with blue hues will create an interior that has been “worn” over time. Most of the walls are painted, with printed wallpaper and wood paneling as accents.
LIVING ROOM
The lack of daylight in a small living room is compensated by a variety of lighting sources: a chandelier, rotary lamps, a floor lamp, and a wall lamp. The storage system is not accentuated, successfully merges with the tone of the walls, and the original openwork metal doors flank the composition.
DINING ROOM
Doorways are proposed to be increased in height, as this technique helps to visually raise the ceiling. Shelves and a low sideboard will be placed symmetrically along one of the walls, and a large table with a wide top and high-backed chairs will be placed in the center of the room. One of the walls will be sheathed with aged wood, against which decorative plates with a marine theme will look especially decorative.
KITCHEN
Kitchen furniture will be designed in two colors: light sand and sky blue. Relief tiles with bright ethnic patterns will connect this difference in facades. A refrigerator, an oven, and a microwave oven will be built into tall modules, with shelves at the end of one of them. The ceiling will be sheathed with slats with the effect of aging.
HALLWAY
It is proposed to lay a parquet board with decorative inserts in the form of an aged tree on the floor. To create a bright color accent, it is recommended to order the door panel in blue, with a decorative rosette. The small console does not take up much space and is convenient for keys and small things.
BATHROOM
Mozarabic-style tiles imitating Byzantine ornament oblige the use of other objects in a similar style, for example, a shell in the form of an oriental dish on an old console made of stained wood and jalousie doors of the same color.
PARENTS’ BEDROOM
The room is freed from a wardrobe, which allows you to put an old console table along the free wall, which can play the role of a dressing table or a desktop. The entrance to the dressing room with a sliding door was made opposite the bed. The wall behind the head of the bed is decorated with a large author’s panel made of pieces of veneer of different types of wood, which form a geometric composition. The upper part will be decorated with an openwork metal panel.
BOYS ROOM
The marine theme in the nursery is unconventionally revealed, instead of blue, the emphasis will be on noble gray shades in combination with red, yellow, orange, and turquoise. Along the semicircular wall between the windows, there will be a bunk bed and two work tables. The semicircular wall will be leveled with drywall, which will make it possible to minimize the cost of manufacturing furniture of complex configurations.
DAUGHTER’S ROOM
140 cm wide, with a high headboard in fabric upholstery and framed with bright piping. Fuchsia-colored curtains, quilted in the same way as the bedspread, hanging shelves on a metal frame, and a chandelier with butterfly pendants will create an atmosphere of decorative lightness.
