A room with low ceilings on the second floor of a country house, thanks to the efforts of the designers, has increased in volume and turned into an eco-style living room with ethnic elements.
First of all, the author of the project, proposed to dismantle the ceiling and part of the walls in order to include the under-roof space in the interior. Then, all surfaces were sheathed with chipboard with grooved joints, and several functional niches were formed from them. The end walls and ceiling slopes were finished with white-tinted cork panels.
The new geometry of the room was emphasized by a rhythmic layout of wooden slats, fixed with inconspicuous finishing nails, and LED lighting circled around the middle of the room along the contour.
- A mirror panel in a polyurethane frame, decorated with a rhinoceros head made of red plywood elements, was placed on the wall between the windows.
- The main light sources are pendant chandeliers with lampshades made of laser-cut thin cardboard plates. The shapes of the lamps are reminiscent of African vessels.
- One of the walls was decorated with textile wallpaper with geometric patterns. Thanks to polyurethane impregnation, the fabric surface can be wiped with a damp rubber sponge.
- According to the designer’s idea, many multi-colored poufs with linen and felt covers play not only a functional role in the interior but also a decorative one.
