The kitchen, bedroom, living room – everything in the studio apartment is located in one room, so it is so important to properly manage the space. We will show you how to do it.
1. Zone the apartment
In the studio apartment, one way or another, it is necessary to visually separate at least the sleeping area. Drywall or plywood partitions are the most time-consuming way to divide a space into zones. But such a design can and should be facilitated by making it thin, with through niches, a fireplace, an aquarium, and lighting, or deaf, but with a built-in shelving or wardrobe.
2. Put the bed in the closet
The sleeping place is perhaps the most problematic area of a small studio. A double bed will take up a good half of the room, but without a comfortable bed – in any way. You can put a folding sofa bed, or you can take and put the bed into the wall, thanks to the transformer design.
3. Expand the space visually
Lay the laminate so that it flows from the floor to one of the walls. Such a technique will allow not only to correctly use of the remnants of the material but also to visually increase the area: the eye does not fix the boundaries where the floor ends and the wall begins. Mirrored cabinet fronts will also expand the space.
4. Build a mezzanine
If the studio apartment has high enough ceilings, try to organize the second space according to the mezzanine principle. On the second floor, a sleeping place or even a whole recreation area can fit.
5. Make your kitchen invisible
If you focus on a compact kitchen at the entrance to a studio apartment, it will seem that there is more space in the rest of the area: you won’t immediately notice such a functional corner. The second option is to raise the kitchen area to the podium: this way it will be separated from the main space, which means it will visually take up less space.
6. Add Aesthetics
For free planning, loft-style, minimalism, warm and dynamic Scandinavian style, and various ethnic variations are best suited. Remember that it is especially important to choose proportionate pieces of furniture that will blend well with each other, otherwise, the space of the apartment will resemble a furniture showroom.
7. Create a route
So that the common space of the studio apartment does not look too simple due to the lack of partitions, place a wall column in the living area. You can place a TV on it, and, in addition, the space will be located around it, adding dynamics to the interior.
