Considered an icon of modernism, the Colonna collection was created in 1954 by Giovanni Gariboldi, once an apprentice of Gio Ponti, and later the creative director of the manufactory. He went down in the history of Ginori 1735 and design in general as one of the most striking figures of Italian modernism and the decorative arts, a supporter of pure functionality and sincerity of form. In the middle of the last century, Colonna revolutionized the art of porcelain making, making it more relevant and practical. In the design of the collection, Giovanni Gariboldi emphasized precise geometry and stackability: thanks to this, the products can be folded into compact symmetrical compositions for convenient storage. The limited re-edition of the Colonna series, which also won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award, includes tea, coffee and full table services, faithful to Gariboldi’s original concept.
