British street artist Banksy appears to have made a Valentine’s Day gift to his native Bristol. A new graffiti has appeared here: a girl with a slingshot and an explosion of red flowers.
Banksy, whose identity is unknown, has not confirmed that it is his work. He often uses Instagram to signal his new project but hasn’t done so this time. His agent did not respond to a Reuters inquiry. The girl is depicted in the spirit of Banksy’s stencil drawings. In one hand she holds a slingshot as if she had just fired a projectile. At the end of the trajectory is a bright red blood-splattered shape made from plastic leaves and flowers. Banksy’s street art often draws attention to social issues. In December, an elusive artist depicted two flying reindeer pulling a homeless man off a street bench in central Birmingham.
