MVRDV architects in collaboration with Orange Architects and LOLA Landscape Architects were responsible for developing the master plan for a new area in the Dutch city of Zwolle. The 120,000 square meter quarter called WärtZ is conceived by the team as a second urban center built around a former warehouse. In particular, the architects plan to reconstruct the industrial premises, preserving its wavy roof. It is expected that the renovated space will be occupied by offices of innovative start-ups and creative companies, as well as educational institutions, while a residential block will be built directly above it. In addition, three more buildings will appear on the territory of the block, the first floors of which will be used for offices, and the upper levels for apartments. The project team will try to make the area car-free, setting aside many areas to create pedestrian and bicycle paths.
