Geometric pavilion in rice fields by Lin Architecture

Chinese studio Lin Architecture has designed a simple concrete pavilion: located in Yunnan province, it is an abstract embodiment of local architectural forms. Painted white, the angular structure functions as a pumping station while being designed by the team as a landmark for local farmers and a viewing platform for tourists. The pavilion is located in a rural area surrounded by farmland and rice fields. Among the architectural symbols that reference the typical buildings of the region, the studio used sloping roofs, a combination of high and low windows, ascending steps, and skylights. There is seating inside the structure, while a central staircase leads visitors to a small cantilevered terrace.
