When creating this basketball court in the heart of Versailles, Playgones designers were inspired by the vision of André Le Nôtre, the French landscape architect who was once responsible for the design of the famous palace and park ensemble. Focusing on the synthesis of sports, art, and local context, the team combined the functional features of the object with classical aesthetics in the project: it was embodied in patterns of organic shapes and flowing lines. The project was conceived and implemented in collaboration with a local basketball club, and an important aspect for the designers was maintaining the required dimensions of the basketball court and the correct location of the hoops. Thus, as a result, the sports facility not only becomes a new center of the community but also refers to the history of the city.
