Our life becomes more multifaceted and complex. These trends are reflected in the appearance of our home, the layers of colors, furniture, and accessories. Even in the design of the walls of different rooms, we use a variety of materials that are different from each other.
Cork
The popularity of cork wall covering is easy to explain the relevance of the ecological direction of interior fashion and the unique properties of this material. Among them are durability, environmental friendliness, and hypoallergenicity. Cork coatings are not subject to decay, are elastic and fire-resistant, resistant to mechanical stress, have sound-proofing properties, and retain heat well. Those who are more interested in the decorative expressiveness and tactile appeal of walls decorated with cork will have to choose between agglomerated (pressed) material and decorative cork veneer. Their texture is varied. In the first case, fine-grained, in the second – lamellar, resembling marble. The natural palette consists of warm shades of yellow, ocher, and brown. No less attractive are coatings with colored splashes and tinted ones.
Plaster
Traditional and at the same time modern wall decoration is decorative plaster. This is a thick-layer coating based on small-sized (0.5-10 mm) fillers: stone chips (marble, granite, dolomite, quartz, etc.), cellulose or nylon fibers, and synthetic granules. According to the type of binder, plasters are divided into mineral, silicate, silicone, and acrylic, the latter is most often used in interiors. An interesting relief of the surface layer (texture) also depends on the application technique and the tools used: brushes, rollers with an uneven or patterned surface, spatulas, and brushes. By the way, textured plaster is very practical. Fresco on plaster
One of the types of modern frescoes is a mixture of elastic plaster reinforced with fiberglass, with a printed pattern applied, which is covered with a protective composition. Such frescoes easily tolerate temperature changes from -20 to +20 ° C. Therefore, they are used both on facades and in interiors, including in wet rooms. The size of the fresco can be any. Use the mixture on any prepared surface (concave or convex). Please note that the fiberglass may protrude slightly at the edges. Then, having glued the fresco, decorative plaster is applied around it on the wall and the grid.
Wallpaper
Wallpaper- these are not just rolls of paper with a pattern, but the most interesting material for creating a unique interior. Today, manufacturers and designers do not offer ready-made solutions for wall decoration. They invite us to co-create, and play with space, color, texture, and pattern, helping to realize the need for self-expression in the decoration of our own home. Interestingly, the release of one collection of paper, vinyl, and non-woven, textile wallpapers lasts an average of 3-4 years. But decorative canvases glued to the walls can last 15–20 years. Of course, this is true for a harmonious interior that does not bother, and the desire to change something in it appears infrequently. An important role in the design of the room is played by complex solutions, that is, collections consisting of several types of wallpaper, borders, decors, and panels, as well as tulle and curtains.
Paint
The general fascination with monochrome or restrained colors was replaced by the active use of color in the interior. In addition, machine tinting of paint has practically no restrictions on the color palette. The shade of paint can match the fabric upholstery, be a few shades lighter or darker, combined with curtains, carpets, furniture, in a word, anything. The use of decorative paints, which, unlike conventional top coats, create interesting and unusual visual effects on the walls, provides even more opportunities for original wall decoration. Imitation of various textures and aged surfaces, overflows, gloss, holograms, etc. The combination of two types of paint – background and decorative (glazing) makes the surface color more delicate, changing depending on the lighting and viewing angle.
Architectural decor
Elements of architectural decor help to focus attention on details, and create a visually smooth transition from one surface to another, and besides, they are able to support any interior style. The most common products made of polyurethane are lightweight, and strong enough, without any problems withstanding changes in humidity and temperature. Their indisputable advantage is the possibility of producing flexible elements that take the form of a curved base surface. Large manufacturers of polyurethane architectural decor produce virtually all rigid elements in flexible modifications and guarantee the accurate joining of rigid and flexible parts of the same pattern.

A kaleidoscope of formats, colors, textures, and style solutions of ceramic tiles allows each of us to choose the option that suits our personal tastes and the nature of the interior. The modern interior is often eclectic, and the most interesting images are built on a combination of different textures. The stone decoration is especially expressive next to homogeneous surfaces – smooth walls, transparent glass, and furniture of strict forms.
Decorative facing brick
A popular type of artificial stone is decorative brick. A small mass of “brick” cladding (up to 20 kg / m²) allows you to mount the material on any wall base, including sheathed with plasterboard or chipboard. For cladding, elements of two types are used: flat and angular. The rough, unpolished texture of natural or, conversely, juicy, bright colors looks organically in interiors designed in the style of minimalism and hi-tech.
