7 most practical colors for the interior of the hallway that will hide dirt

Gray, sand, or khaki – we talk about shades that look beautiful in the interior and simplify cleaning in the hallway.

If you are at the renovation stage, take a closer look at a palette that can visually hide stains and splashes: in the interior of the hallway, it will come in handy in almost any season, but especially in autumn. Suitable colors are classified as neutral and work great for visually maintaining cleanliness (which means less cleaning).

1. Grey

Depending on the tone and texture,  gray can either emphasize the dirt brought in from the street or, conversely, make it less noticeable. For example, stains and traces of water are visible on matte and dark surfaces, so saturated graphite will not work. It is better to opt for a light gray color. Despite the popular opinion that light shades are easily soiled, it does not emphasize stains and dust and is easy to clean.

2. Khaki

Another neutral color, but already from the green pallet, is khaki. This is a complex multifaceted shade that is a bit like the color of street dirt. In the interior, it looks stylish, goes well with other palettes and, of course, saves from visible pollution. Thanks to this, the room will look cleaner, and you won’t have to clean it every day.

3. Taupe

Grey-brown is sometimes referred to as road dust. A telling name, isn’t it? The interior looks nice and cozy. At the same time, thanks to dustiness, it hides dirt. Taupe can be used where pollution is most likely, and the rest of the walls (for example, the upper ones or those farthest from the entrance) can be painted with brighter or even white paints. By the way, taupe goes well with complex colors, such as purple.

4. Swampy

A swampy is somewhat reminiscent of khaki, but it has a more active green tone. This color is cold or warm and can be combined with different shades. If you want a more cozy atmosphere, choose a warm undertone and combine it with a beige-brown palette, while Nordic-cold interiors are built on a combination of a cold marsh and gray-white palette. In any case, the swamp in the hallway will save you from frequent cleaning, because it will partially hide street dirt and traces of water.

5. Beige

Beige was and remains the perfect base. In addition, it is able to hide stains and stains. These two qualities make it literally indispensable in the design of the hallway, but be careful in choosing a shade. Beige, like many other colors, can be warm and cold and create diametrically opposed moods in a room. You also need to pay special attention to the combination of this color with a yellow palette – there is a chance that the interior will turn yellow and look old-fashioned.

6. Sand

A pleasant and rather active natural shade, on which stains and dust are less noticeable. However, with sand, as well as beige, you should be on the lookout: if you choose a tone a little yellower or warmer, then the interior will turn from stylish to outdated. Choose cool shades with gray undertones or combine warmer shades with other cool colors for a more modern look and just as good protection from dust and dirt in sight.

7. Light brown

Light brown is slightly richer than beige and sand, but also neutral. It is important to dwell on a light shade for the hallway because dark tones do not hide stains and dust, but, on the contrary, can emphasize them. In order to protect the room as much as possible from traces of dirt, a texture with small stains or interspersed with other similar colors (for example, a pattern for plaster or stone) will help.
